About the Author
American artist Nancy Chandler has been creating unique maps, cards and gifts celebrating life in Thailand since she moved there in the late 1960s with her young family. A native of San Francisco, her unique style is characterized by the use of bright colors, humourous comments and witty insights, and the ability to make sense out of chaos when creating detailed market maps. She now spends much of each year in the US with her youngest daughter, Kim, a high functioning Down Syndrome young lady (and an artist as well). Nancy does however return to Thailand annually on research trips and to visit friends and family, including her two other daughters, Nima (now her business partner and responsible for updating Nancy's maps) and Siri, a teacher at an international school in Bangkok.

I know right where I am!

Just returned from 10 days in Bangkok. This map is the greatest! Very handy at the weekend market and China town was SOOOOOOOOOOOO easy! We walked through Chinatown 5 times on 5 different days, saw everything! Very easy to follow, and has lots of helpful things on it! The Sukumvit map was also very handy, as that is where our hotel was. Forget a guide book! This is what you need!

I ordered a copy of Groovy Maps as well as one of Nancy Chandler's maps. The Groovy map provides useful detailed information in a concise easy to read format. It is first of all a map as most people are familiar with them. Nancy's map looks like it should be framed in a cheap frame and hung on the wall of a hostel. Yes, it has a map with just about every place in Bangkok listed on it even if you are looking for an Office Supply store. It is absolutely overwhelming for the casual tourist. That said I do not regret purchasing this item as I did find it useful and the accompanying booklet provided some tips, just be aware that this is probably best purchased well in advance to make notes about places you wish to see on your visit but I would purchase another tourist map (personally I like the one by Groovy Maps and I have no affiliation) for use getting around during your trip.

Take it with you to Bangkok.

This map was invaluable on a recent trip to Thailand. But you could get a similar map from your hotel! This one is more colorful, easier to read and written for Americans. However some of the places are no longer in business (one of the Jim Thompson fabric stores has closed) and the restaurants noted on the map tend to be more for western tourists (Mango Tree). But its definitely helpful for navigating, especially Chatuchak market, Chinatown and the main shopping district. It also helped us see what was nearby so we could decide where to go next.
