John B. Leith was born in 1920 with a photographic mind. He graduated from high school in 1937 and took spiritual training in Lhasa, Tibet for nine months before joining the Office of Strategic Services. During the last two years of WW II he led a six-man special-forces team out of London specializing in breaking prisoners out of German jails in France, Germany, and Poland. Though he became the most highly decorated soldier of any war, he was not allowed to acknowledge he had any combat service until after his death. He studied literature at Oxford while describing his 12 most exciting of 62 missions behind German lines. As liaison officer between General Patton and Gen Von Rundstedt he learned how selected people were fleeing Germany. These missions are described in The Man with the Golden Sword. Leith studied in Canada and spent 25 years earning a living as a journalist. In 1975, after demonstrating that he could keep his OSS experiences hidden from the public for 30 years, the CIA asked Leith to team up with another wartime OSS officer, Father John in WW II, and interview people associated with the development of “round-wing planes,” both for our allies and for Germany. Neither group was allowed to use that technology for war, because both were assisted by wiser beings from off this planet. Genesis for The Space Race: The Inner Earth and the Extraterrestrials was dedicated to “an unsung hero, Jonathan E. Caldwell, inventor of this civilization’s first spacecraft.” He used several names for security. Read about him on Wikipedia. Like most CIA-approved releases, this 376-page book was required to have disinformation published with it and shown in a map of inner-Earth civilizations provided by an Atlantean cartographer. A 4-page Preamble helps the reader understand the disinformation and it’s need. This book falsely indicates Hitler went with other officers and scientists to New Berlin, accessed from Antarctica. Pope Pius XII trained him to convert pagans in the jungles of Ecuador. The map falsely shows 125-mile-diameter holes at each poll required by the CIA to keep wealthy people from spending their fortunes in attempts to access the Inner Earth to acquire advanced technologies. Leith’s term “Inner Earth” was sometimes changed to “Hollow Earth” and the story modified to match. Also, this book says that Hitler’s son came to his father’s funeral in Zaragoza, Spain in 1974, though the real funeral to which his son, born to Eva Braun in 1945, came was in Cuenca, Ecuador in 1978. It has three sections: Space Race, The Inner World of Extra Terrestrials, and Primer For a New Age of Space. Chapter XVII is titled Intrusion of Alien Beings into World Societies and Interviews with Leading Extra Terrestrials. The Epilogue describes how the 54-12 committee developed strategy for USA presidents since Eisenhower to maintain air supremacy into the 1980s and beyond. It describes foreign awards presented to Lt. General Caldwell after he retired in 1967, including a singular Congressional Medal presented by Eisenhower. The Appendix is titled Social, Political, Economic and Religious life in Inner Earth. Notes and Sources follow with excellent research on many controversial issues that came up during the interviews. Following are pictures of construction of New Berlin and a completed housing block with many German soldiers lined up for inspection. A 57-item bibliography from Occult and the Third Reich by Jean-Michel Angelbert to The Bible and Future Events by Leon Wood is listed. Between are: The Secret Doctrine by Blavatsky; UFO’s and Interplanetary Visitors by Fowler; Our Haunted Planet by Keel; Aliens from Space by Keyhoe; The Great White Brotherhood by Prophet; and Secret of the Ages – UFOs from Inside the Earth by Trench. Following Leith’s writing are addendums by the Owner, Robyn Andrews, who worked with Leith at conferences, and by MUFON Investigator Michael Forte who investigated Leith’s research specialist, Frank Hudson.

If any of it's true it's the most important UFO book ever..

If any of it is true it's the most important UFO book ever. I would like to know more about which parts are disinfo. Leith wrote the book very well- but then entrusted this landmark book to the wrong people. Whomever published the book on createspace had no idea what they were doing. The text hasn't been justified (typographic alignment) which looks very unprofessional. There is no indenting at all and the manuscript was left in draft form and the paragraphs were not connected. But despite all this its a must read book.

A book by its cover.

Its a beautiful book and looks good with my other collection of walkthrough books. That being said there are some glaring errors with certain parts of the book.

I'm trying not to spoil too much. Some of the "collectibles" for a certain most wanted mission, the descriptions of the places don't match the pictures given. And there's one certain scan-able area that isn't even in the area much less the picture shown that had me running to the internet. After wasting two hours of sniper shouting, building circling, glitch questioning madness.
Everything else looks good but I buy the walkthrough books so if I get stuck I don't HAVE to go on the internet.

I hope the people that got the kindle version got a better one than I did. Glad it doesn't make me mad to ink up the book putting in the right info.

Guide is okay, at best. Many mistakes and errors in it.

I've been a gamer all my life. I've bought literally hundreds of guides over the years and many of them have been BRADYGAMES guides. Just about every one of the guides I've bought have been great. However, this one fails pretty miserably. The guide for the most part is sound. The coverage of the Story Mode/Campaign is very solid. It's when it comes to the collectibles that the guide fails. There are many different side missions and collectibles in this game. The 'Enigma' side mission requires you to find 'DataPacks' throughout Gotham City. There are 200 of these DataPacks to find. The guide lists the locations and descriptions of all 200 of these DataPacks. The only problem is that only about 60% to 70% of the information is correct. About 30% to 40% of the pictures for some of the DataPacks are linked the the wrong description and vice-versa. To make matters worse, some of the DataPacks not only have the wrong picture with the wrong location description underneath them, but the descriptions are sometimes so vague that you're better off just trying to find the item on your own without the guide. The guide sometimes just confuses you more than you already are. It's just a mess. Whoever was in charge of quality control on this guide at BRADYGAMES seriously dropped the ball on this item. The guide is helpful but when you're paying this kind of money for something that's supposed to be providing you with information about the game and you get unreliable information, it's disappointing to say the least.

No issues on my end

I know other reviews are having problems with the kindle version, which is the same version that I am. I don't have a kindle hd (just a plain old kindle) so I'm using kindle cloud to read this. and I'm not having any issues making the screen bigger and its working perfectly for me. The guide is wonderful it will help to get all the collectibles and all the secrets hidden in this game. Also if you have purchased Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate there is a walkthrough section for that game as well (and its a good enough guide even though it really just explains the what each button does, and shows you a map of each location and where every item is etc, and a boss guide but no really written walkthrough for BLACKGATE) overall I would give this a 9/10

In one word: Brilliant.
I work as a therapist in a treatment center. We treat 400-500 alcoholics and addicts each year. Many people resist the Judeo-Christian themes in 12 step work. For those people, there are few viable alternative recovery roads. Noah has illuminated for all suffering addicts the Buddhist path as a road to sustained recovery from addictions. This is what's been missing for so long!

This is definitely a book that has been sorely needed for a long time. Refuge Recovery, unlike so many other alternatives to 12-Step recovery, hasn't thrown the baby out with the bathwater. Everything that works in 12-Step recovery appears to be present in Refuge Recovery including thorough introspection (called inventories), personal responsibility and action-taking, interdependence with a supportive community, and a course of action on a spiritual path. But RR offers a non-theistic practice of spiritual principles as rich for the freethinker as for those who have a God as part of their belief system. There are other books about recovery and the 8-fold path, but this one has a whole community behind it. Great resource.

Read it, do it and recover

As an individual in long term recovery and what that means for me is that I have not used a drink or drug recreationally since March of 1986, I recommend this book. My recovery began in 12step programs and I am grateful for their existence. As my understanding/sobriety increased, I was drawn to "Buddhism" particularly Zen. Noah has generously articulated much of what my experience has been in recovery and while as one reviewer pointed out empirical evidence is lacking, what he has written resonates. The language and process in his book is practical and easy to follow, without some of the magical thinking found in some programs. I plan to host a meeting.

If you are a Saturday mechanic and need photos and step by step directions for repairing cars and trucks then Chilton is the answer for you. Their repair manuals are cheap when compared to GM Repair Manuals and they enable you to fix most vehicle problems.

Spotting a Downturn in the Stock Market in Time

If you are an active investor you will find this a fascinating and useful book. It teaches you how to spot when a bull market will become a bear market in time. That is get out before the decline. He states about the ACA on page 152 that the uninsured were reduced with between 7 to 10 million and on page 154 only with 1.1% which is only 3.5 million or half.

Fisher as a non-sociologist has very definite opinions on government. He sometimes creates the impression that the kind of policies that President Hoover pursued most of the time of non-interference in the economy is the only right policy and political action. I nevertheless also enjoyed this part as he does also make thought-provoking comments on political action.

Helped me rethink my investment strategy

Just finished up with this book last night, and I'm glad I found it. I've dabbled on and off with investments over the years, with streaks of success and patches of rockiness. This book helped me to rethink some of my basic approaches to my portfolio, and in fact I'm probably going to look at my investments this weekend and make some changes based on what I've learned. In particular, I've found that I'm paying too much attention to short-term news and letting it make me either too excited or too scared. The funny thing is that I kind of already knew that about myself, and often times I would make a change knowing that I probably shouldn't. Reading through this book has affirmed that I should stick more to fundamentals and not worry so much about what I read in the paper or see on TV.

The book itself is an easy read and only took me two days to finish. It's also written in a way that seems easy to understand even for someone who doesn't have a background in investing or know all the technical jargon. I also like that there are a lot of charts and other graphics to visualize the points being made. I always find it easier to see a concept displayed in a graph so that was a big help for me.

Would definitely recommend this book for anyone managing their own investments or just interested in how it works.

Not one of Fishers best efforts

Ken Fisher is a good writer I have read about 5 of his 10 previous books , plus his Forbes articles for many years. Phil Fischer ( his father ) was a brilliant thinker and investor , Ken has obviously got that gene.

If you have read Fisher's stuff and other similar thinking investment writers , the book does not offer much that is new. If you are looking for a book that is going to be the definitive guide on how to find the next great investments this is not the book for you. ( I don't think that exists ).

This book might help you become a better " critical thinker " regarding your investment decisions.

I gave this only three stars , not because it is bad book or promotes investing philosophies that I do not agree with , but because I think Fisher could have written a better book, he should have stopped at 10.

About the Author
Dona Wong began her career in visual journalism at The New York Times, became the graphics director for The Wall Street Journal in 2001, and was previously the strategy director for information design at the global consulting firm Siegel+Gale. Today she is Vice President, Digital and Multimedia Communications, at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Wong holds an MFA from Yale University and lives in New York City. The views expressed here are her own and do not necessarily represent those of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Beautiful

This short easy read is a beautiful introduction to how to make professional graphics. Because the WSJ is featured in the title, I was a bit nervous that the entire book would be focused on visualizing financial data but it has great advice for anyone who needs to visualize numeric data. I really enjoyed it because there is unique advice that adds to other practical books on visualization like Creating More Effective Graphs, and it nicely complements or leads into classics like The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, 2nd edition or Visualizing Data.

The first chapter covers basic issues like how many colors, what colors, how many lines, etc.. The second, which is the bulk of the book, contrasts effective and poor graphics on side by side pages. There is concise useful advice on truncating ranges, breaking axes, using broken bar graphs, how many pie pieces, etc. The advice is beyond simple do or do not break a bar, it discusses how much of a discrepancy in the height of a bar chart merits a break. While other books have advice that ends with "do or do not use some graphics" (like pie charts), this one has great advice on when it makes sense to do things like break graphics into sets of pictures, use broken bars in bar charts, how and when to set scales (so that graphics afford meaningful comparisons) and how to make the best use of pie charts. There is a short section on descriptive statistics, when to use means, medians, plotting percentages vs actual changes, etc. and there is a surprisingly nice section on the algebra for setting axes which I have never seen written up. The final two chapters deal with specialize topics like plotting financial matters or plotting time series and relations among groups.

The only real down side is there is no discussion of what tools to use to make the graphics or how the graphics in this book were rendered. Despite this, the book is superb because it covers the material in adequate detail and it gives insights that are either not covered at all or are scattered across many sources.

Keep This One On Your Desk

As a marketing analyst my job involves a great deal of analyzing data and turning that data into meaningful information for directors, vp's, etc. I've read just about every book out there on this subject at some point or another. This one is a definite keeper. The kind of book that you'd want to keep on your desk if creating charts and graphs is something you do regularly. If you follow these principles your presentations will stand out from the crowd.

I am always shocked by the rarity, within corporate America, of the ability to do this well. The fact is that most top tier MBA's that I've worked with still can't get past the default settings in Excel to even figure out how to get rid of the gray backroung on their charts--let alone follow best practices such as those espoused by this book and the work of Edward Tufte and Stephen Few.

Having mentioned Tufte and Few, let me digress for a moment and discuss them.

Edward Tufte is the guru of data visualization and it's important to point out that this book's author, Donna Wong, studied under the master himself, so you know her credentials are top notch. It's like learning kung fu from the guy that was trained by Bruce Lee. Except he skips all the BS and just shows you how to kick ass. Of course, unlike Bruce Lee, Edward Tufte is not dead and as far as I know has never taken on Kareem Abdul-Jabar in a yellow track suit. He still writes and publishes his own work, but it's far more theoretical, and not as user friendly as, this book is.

As for Stephen Few, he is the second biggest name out there when it comes to data visualization best practices. I have one of his books, "Information Dashboard Design," which, while good, provides too many examples of what NOT to do, with not enough examples of best practices, in my opinion. Few also, likely feeling that another author had ventured into his territory, posted a somewhat negative review of this book on his website. I think he was a bit unfair and nitpicky.

This book is right to the point and shows the reader how best to present any kind of data in the most effective way possible. It does not, however, get into the specifics of how to do these things with Excel. For that, you may wish to look up an e-book by Charles Kyd who goes into great detail with the best ways to use Excel for the creation of dashboards. I also heartily recommend "Balanced Scorecards and Operational Dashboards" by Ron Person. The second half of which convers a great deal of useful Excel information. Can you tell that this stuff is my life???

useful and usable guidelines for creating charts and graphs

An excellent set of guidelines for the effective use of graphical information in a document, website, or presentation. The book is very well laid out, easy to follow, and just makes sense.

The book focuses primarily on bar charts and line graphs. I wish the book were longer. It would be great if it covered more types of information graphics, with further criteria on how to select the best graphic for the job.

This is a great companion to Robert L. Harris's Information Graphics. While Harris's book is much more extensive, I feel this book gives better advice for creating clear, effective graphics.

It is also one of the most up-to-date SQL books around and one of the few to cover the most recent extensions of SQL, such as the Call-Level Interface (SQL/CLI) and the Persistent Stored Modules feature (SQL/PSM). If you want to go beyond the SQL92 standard, which is covered by most other SQL books, then Date and Darwen's manual is for you. Arguably the most complete SQL guide, A Guide to the SQL Standard contains resources such as a full listing of SQL grammar, which is indispensable in tricky programming situations. The Date and Darwen book does not assume that you are using any particular SQL dialect, so it can be used with any standard SQL database. A beginner who picks up this book first is unlikely to learn much of anything about SQL. But for information about obscure SQL commands or precise definitions of syntax, there is no better place to turn.

This book is a classic -- only that there is a newer edition. There is no reason to get it unless you can't possibly get your hands on the fourth edition, from 1997.
